Say Her Name

This original song by Alysia Lee was written as a vehicle to bring the powerful libation ceremony to the concert stage with a call to action. The #SayHerName movement resists police brutality against Black women. If you say the name, you're prompted to learn the story, and if you know the story, then you have a broader sense of all the ways Black bodies are made vulnerable to police violence.

This Is Our House

TIOH compels the performer to never take for granted the beauty and magic of singing together. Often times we forget to cherish the life moments that matter the most. The piece asks the audience to also consider their own missed opportunities to give and receive gratitude and community. This work was commissioned by Baltimore Choral Arts and premiered in Summer 2021.

“The circle of memory is flowing backwards.

The circle of memory is flowing through us.”

Reverie

This work was commissioned by the Portland Lesbian Choir and will premiere in Spring 2022.

“Radical imagination, blueprints liberation.”
